For more than 20 years, Sidwell Friends alumni, parents, and other friends have shown their support for the School by making a planned gift and becoming members of The Thomas and Frances Sidwell Society.
Now there’s a way to increase the value of a planned gift. An anonymous donor has committed $200,000.00 in matching funds that will amplify the value of a planned gift. For every planned gift made under this Legacy Challenge, the donor fund will contribute 10 percent of the value to the School’s Together We Shine campaign. And you can direct that money to the campaign priority of your choice: Campus Reunification, General Endowment, or The Sidwell Friends Fund.
The match applies both to new gifts or increases to existing gifts that include Sidwell Friends School in an estate plan.

For example, if you document a $50,000 gift in your will or trust, $5,000 from the matching pool will immediately be directed to your chosen campaign priority. For a planned gift of $250,000, you will unlock a $25,000 cash gift from the matching pool. Though the total amount committed to the challenge is $200,000, the maximum amount of any single 10 percent match is $25,000.
WHY MAKE A PLANNED GIFT NOW?
Planned giving is always a wonderful way to give, but the impact of these gifts is not immediate. The Legacy Challenge not only amplifies the value of the gift, but it also makes money available to the School now during its landmark fundraising campaign.
